Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze writing assessment differences on gender of pre-service Korean teachers and their gender perception about students who are assessed. 69 pre-service Korean teachers who are sampled test each 35middle school students' informative and persuasive writings. The sources of their assessments are collected and analyzed for the purpose of this paper. The results are as follows. First, the mean scores of informative writings and persuasive writing are each 14.27 and 14.02 by pre-service Korean teachers. This mean scores below the scale mean 15.0 point. This result shows pre-service Korean teachers are strict with students' writing assessment. Second, there are no writing assessment differences according to the raters'gender in informative and persuasive writings. But it is necessary to develop writing assessment expertise of pre-service Korean male teachers because they have a big standard deviation in the assessment on persuasive writings. Third, there are no writing assessment differences according to the raters'perception about the students' gender in informative and persuasive writings. And there is no so-called the same-sex depreciation. But pre-service Korean male teachers have not agreement on writing assessment if they perceive the students'gender as female. Pre-service Korean male teachers need programs to develop the expertise of writing assessment.
