Abstract

This study seeks to conduct a comparative analysis of the expressive activity units featured in the 2022 revised Physical Education II textbooks used in high schools. Through this examination, the research aims to assess the current state of expressive activity education and critically evaluate the structural and content-related issues inherent in textbook design. Findings indicate that expressive activity units account for merely 21.2% to 35.1% of total textbook content, reflecting a notably smaller allocation compared to units focused on sports. In terms of thematic composition, sports expression, traditional expression, and contemporary expression appear in relatively balanced proportions. While all eight textbooks incorporate content related to critique, both the scope and depth of such material remain substantially limited. From an analytical standpoint, the study identifies misclassifications within expressive activity categories and inaccuracies in the examples of physical activities presented. Moreover, it explores the conceptual vagueness surrounding key terminology and aesthetic dimensions within these units.
