초록
Internet-of-Things (IoT) services have garnered significant attention as new Internet-based services. As IoT-service companies collect user-related information directly from the sensing devices, there are greater concerns with respect to privacy and information protection issues compared to those for conventional Internet services. This study analyzed the preferences of IoT-service users concerning user-related information protection by using a mixed logit model. The results indicate that users are most concerned about the type of information collected; however, they are willing to provide personally identifiable information to obtain a superior IoT service. Additionally, users prefer to provide their information to external public institutions rather than private companies, even over not providing the information at all. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the establishment of a personal-information protection system and the growth of IoT services.
