1950년대 말부터 시작된 한국여성들의 독일간호인력 파견은 한국과 독일 모두의 사회, 경제적인 요인에 의해 추동된 현대사의 한 중요사건이었다. 그 중 독일 노동시장의 필요에 의해서 한국인 여성들은 일시적인 이주노동자의 기간을 거쳐서 보다 장기적인 이주민의 지위로 변화해갔다. 이주가 인간이 보다 나은 삶을 찾기 위한 본능적이고 역사적인 행위라는 점을 생각하면 이 과정에는 당시 한국여성들이 갖고 있던 개인적인 다양한 원인들이 작용했을 것은 너무나 당연하다. 그리고 낯선 국민국가 내에서의 삶은 결혼이라는 계기를 통하여 보다 장기화되었다. 이 장기적인 기간동안 진행된 이주민적인 삶의 과정에서 이들이 원래 개인적으로 원했던 다양한 이주의 목적들은 일정부분 채워졌다. 가난의 극복과 직업적 노동의 영유였다. 이들 중 일부는 임시이주노동자여서 장기 체류가 원천적으로 불가능했던 한국인 광산노동자와 결혼했고 직업적인 안정성과 체류신분의 안정성으로 인해서 가정 내에 중심적인 위치를 가질 수 있었다. 또한 독일의 환자들과 직접 대면하는 직업적인 성격은 이들이 독일사회와 문화에 적응하는데 도움이 되었고 이는 자녀들의 교육적인 경로의 진행에서도 적극적인 역할을 하게 하였다. 그러나 이들이 원래 이주를 통하여 이루려고 했었던 보다 자유로운 삶의 영위는 현실적으로 어려웠는데 이는 가정의 경제적 중심이 되어야 했던 이유와 여전히 가부장적인 남성권리가 관철되는 가정적인 환경에 의해서였다. 그리고 이들 여성들 역시 자신들의 출발해 왔던 한국이 이들에게 익숙하게 만들었던 가장의 가부장적인 지위를 손상시키지 않기 위하여 노력하였다.
Abstract
Dispatching Korean nurses to Germany which started at the end of the 1950s, was a crucial event in modern history, motivated by social and economic factors in Korean Germany. Korean women's status changed from temporary migrant workers to long-term migrant, due to the demands of German labor markets. Considering that migration was an instinctive and historical acts for human to find better life, it becomes evident that various individual factors of Korean women played a pivotal role. Also, the stay in a foreign country was lengthened thanks to marriage. This long-term stay fulfilled certain amount of migration purposes which varied according to each person. Those women moved to Germany to escape poverty and to work in the society. Korean miners who were temporary migrant workers and were impossible to stay long, were able to obtain central role in home as they married Korean nurses in Germany, who brought job security and secure status as worker. Also, as those Korean nurses took care of numerous German patients, their professional characters helped them to get used to German society and culture, which eventually played an important role in children's educational courses. However, it was difficult for them to enjoy free life which they tried to achieve in Germany. That is because they had to become an economical center in home and they had to live in home where patriarchal system dominated. In addition, those women tried very hard not to defame the status of patriarchal system which was so familiar with themselves and in Korea.
