경상남도 전략산업의 지역 경쟁력 비교 분석:고용 및 경제 통계 지표를 중심으로

글로벌 경제환경의 변화와 기술혁신의 가속화로 인해 생산 중심의 기존 제조업은 성장의 한계에 직면하고 있다. 침체되는 지역경제의 활성화를 위해 전략산업 육성의 중요성이 증가하고 있지만, 지역 전략산업의 현황을 파악할 수 있는 객관적인 자료는 여전히 부족한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 전통적인 입지계수 및 변이할당분석을 통해 경상남도 주요 전략산업의 경쟁력을 비교･분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석 결과, 경상남도 전략산업은 일자리와 생산 관련 지표에서 대부분 지역 특화도를 확보하고 있으나, 전국 대비 비중이 축소됨에 따라 지역 경쟁력이 감소한 것으로 판단된다. 특히 첨단방위 산업은 전국에서의 비교 우위에도 불구하고 모든 지표에서 지역 경쟁력이 하락한 상황이다. 반면 친환경스마트조선 산업은 사업체 지표에서, 첨단항공우주 산업은 부가가치 지표에서 양(+)의 지역할당효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 지능형기계 산업은 생산액과 부가가치, ICT융합 산업은 부가가치 측면에서 경상남도의 지역 경쟁력이 개선된 것으로 나타났으나 일자리 측면에서의 특화도 확보가 필요하다. 이러한 연구는 향후 경상남도 전략산업 육성 정책의 실효성을 높이고 맞춤형 전략을 수립하기 위해 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
As the change in the global economic environment and the acceleration of technological innovation, traditional production-focused manufacturing is facing limitations in its growth. While the importance of strategic industries for revitalizing the regional economy has been increasing, objective data to assess their current status is insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the competitiveness of key strategic industries in Gyeongsangnam-do using location quotient and shift-share analysis. According to the result, most strategic industries in Gyeongsangnam-do are specialized in terms of employment and economic indicators. However, their share has decreased compared to the national average, indicating a decline in regional competitiveness. In particular, the advanced defense industry, despite its comparative advantage nationwide, has seen a decline in regional competitiveness across all indicators. By contrast, the eco-friendly smart ship-building industry has positive regional allocation effects in business indicators, and the advanced aerospace industry has such an effect in valued-added indicators. Although the intelligent machine industry and the ICT convergence industry have shown improved regional competitiveness in terms of production volume and added value, specialization in terms of employment is still needed. This study can be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of strategic industry development policy and to develop customized strategies in Gyeongsangnam-do.
