초록
In urban areas, particulate matter (PM) concentrations are often elevated due to factors such as vehicle exhaust and non-exhaust emissions, construction dust, and restricted air circulation caused by densely packed buildings. Various types of dust are generated in high concentrations near roads due to cars movement. This study proposes the development of an electrostatic precipitator that can be applied to car to reduce near-roads dust. The device collects dust passing through the car-grille as car moves, without requiring a suction fan. Three types of grille-shaped chargers were designed and evaluated for their dust collection efficiency. Among these, the charger designed as a merged system with an octagon-shaped ground plate, electrode and grille demonstrated the highest collection efficiency per unit of power consumption while generating lower ozone concentration. At an average driving speed of 3 m/s, typical for Seoul city, it achieved a collection efficiency of approximately 99% for 0.3 ㎛ particles. with a CADR (clean air delivery rate) of 18 ㎥/min, the device can supply enough purified air for 2,900 adults to breathe clean air for one hour, based on the average daily driving time. The developed electrostatic precipitator is expected to effectively reduce particulate matter near roads.
