이 글은 교차적(intersectional) 관점과 다중 쟁점(multi-issue)적 사유를 드라마 한류의 초국적 지평과 지역적 문맥을 살피는 방법론으로 삼아, 한류가 만들어지고 다시 한번 수행성을 발휘하는 복잡계의 제 조건들을 연결하고, 이러한 연결의 양상과 효과에 대해 논구하였다. 드라마 한류는 기후 위기와 금융 위기라는 역사적-사회적 조건이 겹쳐지면서 몸을 정동시키는 계절이 일기(日氣)의 순환에서 경기(景氣)의 리듬으로 달라지는 과정에서 드러났으며, 금융화와 시설화로 초래된 범지구적 수용소 체제와 시청각 코드의 약리적 효과를 동력으로 삼는 동아시아적 제약-포르노 체제를 토대로 그 유행을 이어갔다. 드라마 한류의 유행은 물질적-담론적 실천으로서 수행적이다. 한류 드라마와 함께 동아시아 문화산업이 보여주는 ‘활력 정동’의 가장과 ‘감각 정동’의 과잉은 ‘관계 정동’의 위기라는 동시대적 조건이 야기한 결과다. 금융화와 시설화로 행위주체성이 거듭 위축된 개체는 연결의 첨단 매체로서 디지털 테크놀로지에 착근한다. 디지털 테크놀로지는 활력 정동과 감각 정동의 강도를 증폭시키며 신체의 테크노프로덕션을 수행한다. 생명성을 가상성이 대체한 이곳이 바로 ‘텔레-공화국’이다.
Abstract
This study uses intersectional perspectives and multi-issue thoughts as a methodology, linking the conditions of the complex system in which the Korean Wave in dramas is created and once again performed. The Korean Wave in dramas surfaced when the transformation in the way seasonal cycles are measured occurred: the process in which the rhythm of seasonality is no longer based on the weather but that of the economy. It continues its trend based on the global camp system caused by the financialization, institutionalization and the East Asian pharmaco-pornographic system, which uses the pharmacological effects of audio-visual codes as the driving force. The trend of the Korean Wave in dramas is a material-discussive practice. Along with Korean Wave drama, the excess of vital affect and sense affect shown by the East Asian cultural industry is the result of the contemporary condition of a relational affective crisis. Individuals whose agency has been repeatedly dampened by financialization and institutionalization are rooted to digital technology as a high-tech medium of connection. Digital technology amplifies the intensity of vitality and sense affects and performs the body’s techno-production. This is the 'Tele-Republic' where virtuality replaces vitality.
