Abstract
In order to evaluate the effects of specimen storage condition on biochemical analyses, biochemical analytes such as fasting blood sugar(FBS), blood urea nitrogen(BUN) , creatinine, total protein, albumin, total cholesterol, AST(asPartate aminotransferase) , AL T(alanine aminotransferase), bilirubin , r -GTP( r -glutamyl transpeptidase), uric acid, triglyceride were measured at 4, 24, 48 and 120 hours after sampling. Blood samples were selected from 54 healthy adults who were admitted to hospital to take physical examination. The serum was storaged at 4℃ and the centrifuged whole blood were storaged at 20℃ and 30℃ in water bath. The results were as foIIows: 1. In storaging serum at 4 DC , significant elevations were observed in albumin and AST after 24 hours and in BUN measurement after 120 hours, however, FBS and biIirubin were significantly reduced after 24 hours, and 120 hours compared to those after 4 hours measurement. 2. In storaging centrifuged whole blood at 20℃ and 30℃ , BUN' creatinine, total protein, albumin, total cholesterol , AST, r -GTP, uric acid , and triglyceride were significantly increased and FBS and bilirubin were significantly decreased after 24 hours than those after 4 hours measuremen t. 3. Significant changes for FBS, albumin , total cholesterol and r -GTP were observed by the measurement time in storaging centrifuged whole blood at 20℃ and 30℃, however no significant changes for these analytes were obseπed in storaging serum at 4℃. 4. AL T was significantly decreased in storaging serum at 4℃ and increased in storaging centrifuged whole blood at 20℃ and 30℃ by the measurement time.
