Abstract
Test cariation may be from multiple sources and of many different types, this makes isolation and reduction more complicated and more critical as an activities for total quality management. This study was to analyze precentage variation in 18 items in clinical chemistry laboratory for six months and to compare with CLIA 88 criteria. Every day, we analyzed 18 items in clinical chemistry with within-run from December 1997 to May 1998 in order to evaluate usual percentage variation in our own laboratory. Creatine kinase(normal-4.9%, abnorrmal-5.1%), blood urea nitrogen(normal-4.8%,abnormal-4%), direct bilirubin (normal-4.8%, abnormal-3.8%) was greater other items with both control sera. Grand mean of control sera were 2.79% in normal level and 2.35% in abnormal level. We concluded that 18 items in within-run percentage variation in clinical chemistry were less than 5 percentage variation. These were good performance in comparison with CLIA 88 criteria.
