Abstract
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how compassion experienced by members of a company affects emotional exhaustion through organizational identification by forming positive psychological capital. In addition, this study aims to verify the dual mediating effect of positive psychological capital and organizational identification in the relationship between compassion and emotional exhaustion. The sample was analyzed based on data obtained from 342 respondents, and a survey was conducted on organizational members working at domestic companies. As a result of the study, the effect of compassion experienced by members on emotional exhaustion was demonstrated as a significant relationship of negative (-), and the effect on positive psychological capital was demonstrated as a significant relationship of positive (+). And the effect of positive psychological capital on organizational identification has a positive (+) relationship, and the effect of organizational identification on emotional exhaustion has a negative (-) relationship, both of which have been significantly verified. In addition, as a result of this study, all hypotheses were supported as both double mediation effects were found to be significant. Therefore, this study has theoretical implications that it not only contributes to the formation of a compassionate organizational culture and the formation of a positive organizational culture after the formation of positive psychological capital through compassion, but also demonstrates the relationship between compassion and emotional exhaustion.
