지속 가능 소비문화의 정착을 위한 대안 탐색 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 소비사회의 극복을 위한 지속가능 소비문화의 정착을 위해 소비자들이 어떤 가치와 소비문화를 확립시키고 지속적으로 실천해 나아가야 할 것인가에 대한 대안을 찾기 위해 사례를 통해 지속가능 소비문화의 정착가능성을 탐색해 보는 것이다. 본연구의 방법은 문헌을 통해 이론을 정리하고 외국과 국내의 운동사례 자료와 운동 참여자에 대한 심층면접으로 진행하였다. 연구의 결과 한국의 소비자들은 매우 소비지향적이며 물질주의적 가치에 몰입해 있으며 물질적 부가 행복을 가져다준다고 믿고 있었다. 소비문화는 향락지향적이고 자원낭비적인 속성이 드러나고 있다. 환경을 보존해야한다는 의식은 일부 있으나 직접 자신의 생활에서 실천하는 비율은 취약하였다. 지속가능소비문화의 실천을 위한 대안운동으로 녹색구매운동, 소박한 삶의 추구, 지역통화 운동, 재생가능에너지와 생활양식의 변화를 위한 운동들을 해법으로 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find alternative possibilities of establishing a sustainable consumption culture by assessing what values and consumption culture consumers need to steadily follow in order to cope with today’s consumer society. The methodology of this study consists of collaborating theories through related documents, collected materials of foreign and domestic movement case studies, and in-depth interviews with subjects involved in those movements.As a result of this study, we found that Korean consumers were relatively consumption oriented, focusing on materialistic values and believing that materialistic wealth would bring them happiness. Their consumer culture showed hedonistic and resource-extravagant tendencies. Some had an awareness of the need to protect the environment, however, the rate of people who actually put those values into practice was meager.Alternative measures for the realization of a sustainable consumption culture included a green purchase action plan, a voluntarily simplistic life style, and LETS(Local Exchange Trading System).
