Abstract

A few recent researches have shown that web site service quality is essential to enhancing e-service providers' competitive advantage. Especially, web site service quality plays a critical role in customer evaluation of internet banking web site perceptions. A number of studies have investigated the effect of web site service quality on consumers' evaluation in internet banking. However, despite the importance of the effects of user-interface oriented web site service quality on customer outcomes, few have analyzed causal effects between e-service quality and e-loyalty, which is customer loyalty in online business, by just only focusing user-interface oriented web site service quality in virtual environment. When customers perceive web site service quality to be good, it will lead to customer trust and perception of security risk. Trust and perceived security risk are important antecedents in developing e-loyalty in internet banking. The purpose of present study is to examine empirically causal relationships among web site service quality, trust, perceived security risk, and e-loyalty and analyze which demension of web site service quality is the most vital element in internet banking. Support is found for a number of hypothesized structural relations. The results indicate that (1) four dimensions of web site service quality have different impacts on trust and perceived security risk respectively, (2) trust enhances relationship to the degree that it reduces perceived security risk (3) trust and perceived security risk have significant effects on e-loyalty and (4) combining all the indirect effects among web site service quality, trust, perceived security, and e-loyalty dimensions of web site service quality such as exchange process and system operation are of utmost importance in developing and maintaining e-loyalty. Some implications for marketing for internet banking are discussed briefly.
