필리핀 앙헬레스 한국인의 범죄두려움 관련 요인 연구

초록

필리핀에서 일어나는 납치, 살인사건 등 강력범죄의 일부는 필리핀인에 의해서 발생하기도 하지만, 종종 한국인이 현지경찰과 모의하여 다른 한국인을 대상으로 셋업범죄(함정범죄), 청부살인 등이 행하기도 한다. 이에 따라, 범죄피해 두려움이 유발 주체(한국인 또는 필리핀인)에 따라 그 유발요인이 어떻게 달라지는가를 명확히 살펴보고, 그에 따른 구체적인 정책 제언을 만들어 갈 필요가 크다고 하겠다. 본 연구에서는 필리핀 앙헬레스 지역 거주민 114명의 한국인을 대상으로 범죄피해 두려움 실태 및 관련 요인을 두려움 유발 주체 별로 구분해서 조사해 보았다. 분석 결과, 실태 면에서는 한국인에 의한 범죄피해 두려움보다 필리핀인에 의한 두려움이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 응답 비율로 봤을 때, 한국인에 의한 피해두려움은 긍정적인 응답률이 전체의 30.7%인 반면, 필리핀인에 의한 두려움은 전체 응답자의 41.2%에 해당하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 피해두려움 총점에 영향을 미치는 유발 요인으로 전체 full model에서는 연령과 경찰신뢰가 유의미한 영향을 미치는 변수인 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 종속변수를 (1)한국인에 의한 두려움과 (2)필리핀인에 의한 두려움 두 가지로 나누어 봤을 때는 그 유발요인이 서로 다르게 나타났다. 한국인에 의한 두려움에서는 오로지 응답자의 연령만이 유의미한 변수였던 반면, 필리핀인에 의한 두려움에서는 다른 요인들을 모두 통제했을 때 성별(여자)과 경찰신뢰 두 가지가 두려움에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인인 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

There were seven homicide cases targeted at Koreans in Angeles, Philippine for last four years. In spited of the heinous crimes occurred toward Koreans in Philippine, very little is found regarding the cause of fear of crime among Koreans in Philippine. This study aims at exploring the crucial factors that are associated with fear of criminal victimization among Koreans who live in Philippine. In particular, the current study is designed to measure the prevalence of level of fear of crime and examine the predicting factors of the fear of crime among Koreans in Angeles, Philippine. The present study focuses on revealing differences between fear of crime by Koreans and fear of crime by the Philippines. This study conducted survey toward Koreans in Angeles from the 21th of Aug to 27th of Aug, 2015. The total number of samples was 114. The Korean respondents in Angeles voluntarily participated in the survey with the help of Korean Community Association and Korean Desk Policeman. Multiple regression analysis was utilized to analyze the causality between local police trust and fear of criminal victimization toward Koreans. The result showed that Koreans have higher level of fear of crime influenced by Philippines than fear of crime by other Koreans. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis demonstrated that age and trust scores of participants toward local police were statistically significant factors when other variables were controlled. Policy implication will be discussed in terms of relationship between police trust and fear of crime among Koreans.
