영적 행복을 증진하는 교목실의 역할과 활동에 관한 연구

초록

연구 목적 : 이 논문은 긍정적인 학교문화의 형성에 도움이 되는 기독교학교 교사와 학생의 영적 행복 증진을 위한 교목실의 역할과 활동을 자아 성숙과 발달, 공동체의 변화 역동성, 자연환경과 맺는 조화와 균형, 그리고 초월성에 대한 종교-문화적 접근의 관점에서 새롭게 조명하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 연구 내용 및 방법 : 연구의 내용은 실천신학 분야에서 청소년 학습자의 교육적 상황 접근에 용이한 민속지학 연구방법을 활용하여 장로교 전통의 S학교와 감리교 전통의 E학교 교목실의 역할과 활동을 자아, 공동체, 자연환경, 초월성의 차원에서 학습자들의 이해와 경험을 조명하고 그것에 적합한 교육적 활동을 제시하고 있다. 기독교학교의 종교교육을 통해 증진되는 영적 행복의 측면은, 첫째, 자아 성숙과 발달의 측면에서는 하나님의 영의 인도함을 받는 그리스도의 이야기가 자아 내부의 삶을 창조하는 자원으로 작용하여 자아 실현과 완성을 지향하게 되는 것이다. 둘째, 공동체 속에서 이러한 기독교학교의 자원과 지혜를 공유함으로 공동체 구성원의 삶과 하나님의 희망과 목적을 통해 청소년 학습자들은 공동체의 변화를 이끄는 능동적인 주체자로 세워지는 것이다. 셋째, 하나님께서 섭리하시는 창조의 풍성함이 내재되어 있는 자연환경과 인간 존재의 정당한 관계 설정을 통해서 지구적 물질과 공유하는 생태적 교육 환경을 구성하는 것이고, 넷째, 세계 이해의 전체가 만들어 가는 불확실성의 도전 속에서 고통의 가능성과 죽음의 확실성에 노출된 청소년 학습자들이 종교교육을 통해 경험하게 되는 회복적 탄력성과 용기로서의 초월성에 대한 태도인 것이다. 결론 및 제언 : 예수 그리스도의 삶과 가르침 속에 드러난 하나님과 우리의 관계는 기독교학교의 종교교육 활동을 통해서 영적 행복의 희열과 기쁨을 경험하는 학습의 장이 될 수 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the role and activities of chaplains of Christian schools in Korea, focusing on their contribution to spiritual well-being and the foundation of a positive school culture. To achieve the reseach objective, an ethnography approach is applied within the school context for youth. This approach is particularly useful for investigating adolescent’s understanding and experiences in educational context of Christian school. This study examines Christian religious education in schools following two traditions - Presbyterian and Methodist – emphasizing students’ spiritual well-being from the perspectives of self, community, natural environment, and transcendence. The spiritual well-being of the self can be understood as self-realization and perfection, shaped by Christian narratives and traditional resources. The meaning of spiritual well-being that adolescents experience within their community may serve as a source of strength and motivation, transforming their understanding and way of life. Spiritual well-being derived from a harmonious relationship between the natural environment and humanity fosters an ecological mindset that promotes equitable sharing the Earth’s resources. Moreover, adolescents encounter spiritual well-being through transcendence, manifesting as resilience and courage to overcome life’s suffering and confront mortality. In our transitional and uncertain society, religious education in Christian schools can serve as a foundational resource that inspires learners to experience the brightness and joyfulness of spiritual well-being.
