초록

The Qumran Community is the jewish group which had collected and written the in Qumran near the Dead Sea in 1947-56 discovered uncountable Scrolls. The Qumran Community is known as the godly group, and identified with Essnes, one of the religious groups in the second Tempel period. Many people guess the members of this group were so godly that they were not married and fasted. It is a misunderstanding of this group. This paper is to investigate the life of the Qumran Community. To do this task, it is nessesary to read relevant text earnestly in the Rule of the Community(1QS, 1QSa). This paper deals with four characteristics of this group: 1) marriage: if the member of this group was married or not? 2) fast: if the member fasted as a practise of the godly life? 3) Scripture study: why the member studied the scripture? 4) Worship, praise and pray: how is the worship service of this community? The result of this research is as follows: 1) The Qumran people were married, but only one time, and so lived selibate after the divorce or the death of his wife. 2) The Qumran people had the common meal every day. If they fasted, they could work on the field on the day and study the scriptures in the night. 3) They had studied the scriptures, because they believed that the Comming of the End Day was soon and they should prepare the End Day. The Study of the Scriptures was the important preparation for them. 4) They had regular Meetings, for example, the daily Meetings for the common meal and the yearly meeting of all members. In the meeting they had to praise and to pray common to God. They had praised at the certain time in the daily life.We have learned what is the godly life through the Qumran Community. The Qumran Community would be suggested as a model for the godly life for the people who want to live pious in the korean churches. I hope that there are more interest and research for the Qumran texts in our country.

The Qumran Community is the jewish group which had collected and written the in Qumran near the Dead Sea in 1947-56 discovered uncountable Scrolls. The Qumran Community is known as the godly group, and identified with Essnes, one of the religious groups in the second Tempel period. The Qumran Community would be suggested as a model for the godly life for the people who want to live pious in the korean churches. I hope that there are more interest and research for the Qumran texts in our country.
