인성함양을 위한 기독교 교양 교육의 새로운 패러다임 ―코메니우스 이론을 중심으로

기독교 교양 교육이 그 어느 때보다 필요로 하는 것은 기독교 대학 의 이념에 대한 분명한 인식이다. 기독교 교양 교육에서 기독교 가치관 으로 영성교육을 하려고 할 때 먼저 인성과 인성교육에 대한 접근으로 시작하여야 한다. 기독교 교양 교육은 기독교 가치관을 통한 인성교육 이 얼마나 중요한가를 다시 인식하면서 교육의 내용과 방향을 재개념 화하여야 할 것이다. 일반적으로 인성이라고 하면 지ㆍ정ㆍ의로 구분하 지만 기독교에서의 인성은 지ㆍ정ㆍ의 내면적 속성뿐 아니라 초월성인 영성이 포함되어야 한다. 특히 기독교에서의 영성은 독자적인 성찰이 아니라 지ㆍ정ㆍ의와 함께 포괄된 관계성 회복을 의미한다. 이 관계는 하나님과 사람과 우주와의 관계를 의미한다. 기독교 교양 교육에서는 근대주의 사상을 기초로 한 인성교육에 대 한 새로운 패러다임의 전환이 있어야 한다. 기독교적인 인성교육에 대 한 새로운 패러다임의 이론으로 코메니우스의 교육사상을 중심으로 제 시하였다. 근대주의에서는 인성을 지ㆍ정ㆍ의의 세 영역으로 정의하였 다면 코메니우스는 근대주의의 인성을 새롭게 전환하고 있다. 그는 인 성을 지ㆍ정ㆍ의에서 탈피하여 지성ㆍ덕성ㆍ영성의 세 영역의 유기적 이면서 조화로운 관계를 인성이라고 말하고 있다. 기독교 교양 교육에 서의 인성교육은 지ㆍ정ㆍ의에서 더 나아가 지성ㆍ덕성ㆍ영성의 통합 적인 차원에서 이루어져야 한다. 따라서 이제 기독교 교양 교육은 기독교 진리와 가치관에 기초한 인성을 지닌 인재를 양성하는 데 교육적 관심을 기울어야 할 것이다. 특히 기독교 교양 교육은 학생들의 인성함양을 위한 과목으로 발전되 어 가야 할 것이다. 앞으로 기독교 교양 교육은 인간의 모든 존재의 본질적인 원천이 되는 지성ㆍ덕성ㆍ영성을 조화롭게 갖춘 인성함양에 더 많은 교육적인 관심과 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The ideology of christian universities is to be strongly recognized in the education of christian liberal arts. To educate christian spirituality on the basis of christian value in the christian liberal education, education of humanity should be emphasized. For this purpose the christian liberal education needs to be reconceptualize it's contents of direction, and recognize the significance of humanity education on the basis of the christian value system. Generally speaking, humanity is said to be composed of intellect, emotion and will. But concept of christian humanity should include mot only the inner attributes of the three components but also the nature of transcendent spirituality. It is to be emphasized that christian spirituality does not mean exclusively individual meditation or reflection. Instead, it signifies the recovery of relationships, that is, the relationship of God, and the nature. To cultivate christian humanity a paradigm shift is necessary in the area of christian liberal education, which has been dominantly influenced by modern ideas. In this article I propose the education theory of J. A, Comenius as a new paradigm for christian humanity education. He redefined the modern ideas of human nature in terms of christian ideology, which emphasizes organic harmony among intelligence, moral nature, and spirituality of the human nature. Humanity education in the christian liberal arts should integrate intelligence, moral character, and spirituality for the cultivation of whole human beings. Therefore, christian liberal education has to break away from the conventional teaching of christian doctrines or ideas to cultivate integrated humanity, as J. A. Comenius well pointed out.
