Abstract
It is not easy to find the concept and idea of mission in the Old Testament, because all focus is on Israel from the beginning. It is true that the Old Testament emphasizes God’s love and grace for Israel as a chosen nation, rather than a missionary community that draws other nations into the category of Israel’s faith community and shares their faith and culture with them. And it is true that the interpretation concentrated on some of these texts classifies the Old Testament as a non-missionary book, and so far the study of missionary thought in the various fields of Old Testament has become inevitable. However, building missionary theology in the Old Testament is of great value because it is a field of jewelery that is not yet polished. I seek to explore the possibility of missionary thought as a subject of the Old Testament studies and look for the activation of this field further. I will look at the concepts of mission found in the Old Testament, especially in Isaiah, and try to interpret the texts from the missionary perspective of the Old Testament. I would like to prove that mission is one of the important theological ideology of the Old Testament and try to escape from the poverty of study of missionary thought.
