Abstract

Kwon, Jae-il, 2007, Contrastive Study of the case markers in Central Asian Korean and Contemporary Korean, URIMAL- GEUL: The Korean Language and Literature 41, pp.71～92. This study identifies the list of case markers in Central Asian Korean and investigates the phenomena of deletion and contraction those case markers with a statistical method. This study further offers an analysis of the degree of case-deletion, which varies depending on the types of case markers, and explains the tendency which underlies such a phenomenon. In addition to this, by contrasting Central Asian Korean with Contemporary Korean with respect to the statistical characteristics shown in the phenomena, I explore to identify the characteristics of each version of the language. This study is meaningful in that it describes and tries to preserve Central Asian Korean. It is considered to be crucial and imminent to preserve Central Asian Korean at a crisis of becoming extinct, which is an invaluable inheritance of Korean culture. (Seoul National University)
