A Study on the Hyup-ul-sa(협률사), the First Theater in Korea－Focused on the Relationship with the Makeshift Stage Hi－Dae(희대), and its CharacteristicKim Ki RanThe dissertation is the study on the Hyup-ul-sa(협률사), which has been known as the first Theater in Korea. The Hyup-ul-sa(협률사) has been studied in the relationship with the Hi-Dae(희대), a makeshift stage and the the 40th coronation ceremony of Go Jung Emperor in 1902. The former studies of the Hyup-ul-sa(협률사) said that the Hi－Dae(희대) and the Hyup-ul-sa(협률사) was the same thing. But this dissertation disagreed about it and is concentrated on demonstrating that they are different; that is, the Hi-Dae(희대) was a makeshift stage which was built for the 40th coronation ceremony of Go Jung Emperor, and the Hyup-ul-sa(협률사) was the first theater that had nothing to do with the 40th coronation ceremony of Go Jung Emperor. In according to the survey which was done with the Newspaper of 1900s,The Hyup-ul-sa(협률사) is supposed to have been built as the 'Firm' with investment of the Korea Imperial, so that it was under the Korea Imperial control to 1907 when the characteristic of the Hyup-ul-sa(협률사) was changed to the first commmercial theater run unofficial.
