1930년대 말 '조선' 문인의 '조선어'를 바라보는 두 가지 관점

Abstract

A debate of “using Korean in literature” in the late of 1930's demonstrates how notions of ‘national language’ and ‘national literature’ worked as a method to support a colonial domination. A liquidation policy of Korean language as well as an assimilation policy of Korean literature into Japanese literature aimed to drain a Korean's symbolic capital so to enslave them forever. The Japanese colonial power discriminated against Korean as a poor cultural capital so that permanently produced the difference between Korean and Japanese. Therefore, a defence of Korean against the “assimilation policy” has an important meaning in order to resist a Japanese symbolic domination. Based on Lenin's ‘principle of self- determination of peoples’, some Korean literati, i.e. Imhwa, Hanhyo, protect to write in ‘Korean’ as a ‘national form’. The other literati, i.e. Jeongsik In, advocated using Korean in excuse of one of ‘Japanese dialects’, who argued it for abolishing a discrimination between Korean and Japanaese.
