Abstract
Suk, Ju-yeon, 2007, The Morphology and Syntax of Korean in the Open-door Period, URIMALGEUL: The Korean Language and Literature 41, pp.113～133. I study the morpho- logical and syntactic characteristics of Korean language in the Korean Translations of several Taoism books. The books under consideration were published from the end of 18th century to the end 19th century. Interestingly, many of these books were published by King Gojong's direct orders. I describe in details the development of Korean reflected in these books. I also explain why these development and changes happened and what made possible. The Korean language reflected in those books have been regarded as conservative. Therefore, the innovation in these books should be taken to be true 'linguistic changes'. (Catholic University)
