초록
The purpose of this study is to explore the process of incorporation of borderlands colonies, such as the Siberia into the imperial space of the Russia from 18th century to the early 20th century, while paying to the city-making of Omsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Irkutsk. Expanding the borders of the Russian Empire appears to be a change in organizing administration, in fact, it creates a new imperial identity, ethnic-racial relations, new landscape, and the regional economic and material culture. This study also analyzes the government’s ‘standard model’ to enforce the identity as the imperial space. It argues that regional architects, engineers, labor-migrants of various Artel’ and even Siberian cities themselves, had actively internalize the logic of the modern imperial city itself. On the other hand, they not just simply accept the rules of the center simultaneously, but take advantage of the Tsarist government.
