Abstract
Motive of dream - one of the most widespread in world art. The total nature of turning to it in 1920-1940-th of the Russian poet- emigrants of different generations makes it possible to assume that with its aid the certain generality of their existential experiences was marked. Logic of development of considered motive: from idyll of nostalgic dreams-memoirs - to baroque model " the life is dream ", actualized by the classical existential situation in which poets of this generation found themselves. In the article are examined also motives of awakening and insomnia related with the motive of dream. "Night" verses make a considerable share in the case of poetic products of George Ivanov to which in the 1940-1950-th the place of " the first poet of Russian emigration " was allocated. Frequency of the reference of Ivanov to "nights" and "dream" in eschatological implied sense testifies to Apollonian type of his poetry, and to the tragical beginning which has distinctly acted in his creativity of the emigrant period. The sphere of dream in the works of G.Ivanov is extensive and various. She fills space between poles central in his system of opposition "life" - "nonexistence". In Ivanov's development it is motive multivalent and divergent. The sphere of dream is submitted in his verses inverse antitheses. The title antithesis - "sleep- life" and "sleep- death" - reflects the central opposition of its system ("existence" - "nonexistence"). In the article are examined its semantic variations, and also development and transformations of the motive of insomnia. The interpretation of these classical motives, represented in G. Ivanov's creation, very obviously demonstrates both the adherence of poet to traditions and the originality of his artistic thinking.
