현대국어의 역문법화 양상 고찰

본 논의는 현재 역문법화가 진행 중인 언어 형식들이 있음에 주목하여, 이들을 유형별로 나누어 보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 먼저 기존 논의들을 참고하여 역문법화를 정의하고 진행 과정을 나름대로 정리하였다. 그리하여 역문법화를 ① 의존명사에서 명사로 변하는 과정, ② 접두사나 접미사에서 부사나 의존명사로 변하는 과정, ③ 접속 부사에서 부사로 변하는 과정 등으로 유형화 하였다. 이 과정에서 국어 역문법화는 주로 형식의 자립성을 추구하는 방향에서 진행되지, 의미의 구체성을 추구하는 방향으로는 진행되지 않는다는 사실을 확인하였다. 그리고 이러한 이유가 ‘구체적인 의미> 추상적인 의미’로 진행하기는 쉬우나 그 반대로 진행하기는 쉽지 않다는 점에서 연유한 것으로 결론하였다. 위와 같은 논의를 진행하면서 역문법화와 밀접한 관련을 가지는 문법화와의 차이점을 분명하게 인식하게 되었는데, 이에 대한 자세한 논의는 차후를 기약하기로 하였다.
Abstract
This study focuses on language forms that are currently under degrammaticalization and attempts to categorize these forms. For this purpose, this study first defines degrammaticalization based on previous discussions and organizes the process. Therefore, degrammaticalization is defined as a process in which function words with strong grammaticality turn into independent words. Through this process, autonomy and authenticity can be acquired, and it can be processed within a form or specific context. Based on those facts, degrammaticalization is categorized into: first, a transformational process from bound noun to noun, second, a transformational process from prefix or suffix to adverb or bound noun, and third, a transformational process from conjunctional adverb to adverb. During those processes, this study confirmed that degrammaticalization of Korean does not proceed to concreteness of meaning but to independence of form. This is because it is easy to proceed from concrete meaning to abstract meaning, but not vice versa. A further study will be needed to discuss in depth regarding the differences between degrammaticalization and grammaticalization, which is closely related with the former.
