《의미텍스트》모형과 자연 언어 의미 기술의 새로운 방법론적 지향

Abstract

This work examines descriptive and explanatory power of the semantic component in the Meaning ⇔ Text model elaborated by Mel'uk and olkovskij. The first part of the work surveys paradoxical situations on the epistemological and/or descriptive levels encountered by the following theoris of meaning: referential theories of Frege and Russel, semiological theory of Saussure, and behavioral theory of Bloomfield. The second part explains how the Meaning ⇔ Text model can evade such a situation by postulating that meaning stands for invariant of synonymic paraphrasings, and presents a general outline of theoretical framework of the semantic model constructed from this postulation; in particular, it pays attention to the conception of lexical function which makes it possible to describe synonymic semantico-syntactic relations in systematic way. The third part of this work presents innovative characters of the "Explanatory Combinatorial Dictionary" (Mel'uk and olkovskij 1984) and the "New Explanatory Dictionary of Synonyms" (Apresjan et al 1995, 1999-2000); these dictionaries can be considered as good illustrations synthesizing various semantico-syntactic analyses based on the Meaning ⇔ Text model. Finally, in the conclusion, this work suggests some critical suggestions for this model to improve its universal applicability, especially with regard to the necessity to establish non-arbitrary way of numbering semantic and syntactic actants and to introduce inferential structure into the semantic representation of utterance.
