본고는 젠더 (폭력) 문제와 관련한 담론을 비판적으로 분석하는 접근과 방법론을 개발하고 발전시켜온 비판적 담화 연구의 학문적 가치와 실천적 의의, 그리고 발전 가능성을 검토해 보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본고는 먼저 젠더 문제에 대한 사회언어학적 접근을 크게 두 가지로 나누어 정리하고, 사회언어학적 변이 연구와 구별되는 비판적 담화 연구의 주요 주제와 내용에 주목할 것이다. 다음으로 본고는 특히 젠더 담론에 대한 여성주의 비판적 담화 연구의 원리와 방법론을 검토함으로써 구체적인 젠더 (폭력) 관련 담론을 비판적으로 연구할 수 있는 분석의 도구를 구축한다. 마지막으로 본고는 앞서의 이론적 논의를 통해 구축한 분석 도구를 활용하여 최근 한국에서 발생한 젠더 (폭력) 사건과 관련한 현실 담론을 비판적으로 분석해 보는 시론적 사례 연구를 수행할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the academic value, practical significance, and potential for development of critical discourse studies that have developed approaches and methodologies for analyzing critically the gender (violence) discourse. To this end, this paper will organize the sociolinguistic approaches to gender issues in two types, and pay attention to the main topics and contents of critical discourse studies distinguished from sociolinguistic variation studies. Then, this paper constitutes analyzing tools for studying critically concrete gender (violence) discourse by reviewing especially principles and methodologies of feminist critical discourse studies on gender issues. Finally, this paper will carry out a pilot case study to critically analyze some real discourse related to the recent gender (violence) incident occurred in Korea, using analyzing tools built though the prior theoretical discussions.
