Abstract
The purpose of this study is to use discourse analysis to evaluate the structure and language strategies of ‘Makmal’ used in Korean News Headlines. Makmals in News Headlines are one type of communicative discourse that reflects the culture and values of a particular group in a society. The Spiteful speech, in particular, is a language strategy that is closely related to human physiology; therefore, its discourse actively produces cross-linguistic elements. Since very few studies on Makmal from a linguistic perspective exist, the present study uses discourse analysis to examine the characteristics and sociocultural values of the discourse evinced by Korean Makmal.
