본 연구는 인격교육의 이론적 근거를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 인격교육은 그 철학적, 이론적 근거를 바탕으로 연구하기보다는 우리 사회에서 일어나는 여러 가지 문제를 해결하기 위한 하나의 방법으로 주로 활용되었다. 그래서 인격교육과 관련된 인간, 인성, 인격 등의 개념들을 철학자들의 이론들을 살펴봄으로써 이들 개념들 사이의 차이점을 살펴보고 인격교육과의 관련성을 파악하고자 한다. 또한 이들 철학자들의 인격개념들이 가지고 있는 공통적인 특징을 살펴봄으로써 이들이 비판하고 있는 철학적 입장과의 차이점도 파악할 것이다. 인성교육이라는 표현보다 인격교육이라는 표현이 훨씬 자유롭게 적절하다는 것을 앞의 이론을 바탕으로 추론해 내고 도덕교육과의 연관성도 살핀다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to provide a theoretical ground for the Character Education. The Character education has been used as rather one of methods to solve many problems in societies than philosophical and theoretical-based research. Therefore, looking into the concepts provided by philosophers will tell the differences and relations among human beings, human natures and characters. Also, looking into the similarities of the character concepts that those philosophers have will help figure out the differences from the philosophical point of view that they criticize. The followings are the common features. 1. It (Character Concept) has close relations with the moral education. 2. It is flexible not fixed 3. It is rather specific and individual than general and abstract 4. It tends to emphasize the autonomy and freedom of the character 5. It has an integrated nature Finally, discussion how the Character Education will specifically apply to schools and societies will be needed.
