인성교육에서의 애국심의 위상

초록
인성교육과 관련한 연구들을 살펴보면 인성 및 인성교육에서 애국심의 위상은 확고하지 못한 듯 보인다. 그러나 애국심은 인성교육 분야에서 결코 배제될 수 없는 중요한 가치를 지니고 있다. 자유와 관련된 역사와 문화를 중심으로 전개되는 애국심은 고유의 내재적 가치를 지니고 있기 때문에 덕의 모습을 갖추고 있다. 따라서 애국심은 덕을 핵심으로 하는 인성과 밀접한 관련을 가지게 되며, 인성교육에서도 중요한 역할을 수행할 수 있게 된다. 특히 애국심은 시간적 제한을 받지 않으며 폭넓은 연대 의식을 가능하게 하고 그 안에서 동료 시민들을 차별 없이 대우하며 사랑할 수 있게 만드는 도덕적 기초를 제공할 수 있다. 이렇게 볼 때, 애국심은 인성과 인성교육을 언급할 때 반드시 포함되어야 하는 중요한 개념이라고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
It seems that the status of patriotism in the concept of character and character education is unstable in recent studies. However, patriotism cannot be disregarded from the field of the character education, since it has moral meanings. Patriotism based on the history and culture of liberty is capable of a virtue, because it has intrinsic values. It is closely related to the concept of character which emphasizes virtues mostly, and can perform an important role in the character education field. Especially, patriotism enables citizens to feel solidarity without time constraint, and offers a moral background for political love among citizens. In summary, patriotism is an essential concept when people mention character and character education.
