한국의 대중국 부품소재산업 경쟁력 비교 분석

1992년 한중수교 이래 우리나라의 대중국 수출은 큰 폭의 성장을 달성했으나, 최근 수년간 수출증가세가 둔화되는 등 변화의 조짐이 뚜렷하게 나타나고 있다. 이는 주로 대중국 수출의 60% 이상을 담당하는 등 그 동안 수출확대의 일등공신이었던 부품소재의 경쟁력이 중국에 비해 약화되고 있기 때문이다. 본 논문은 무역특화지수, 현시비교우위지수 등 무역데이터를 활용한 기법으로 한국과 중국의 부품소재산업 경쟁력을 비교하였다. 비교 결과 한중 부품소재 산업의 경쟁력 격차는 빠르게 축소되고 있으며 향후 중국의 경쟁력이 더욱 빠르게 상승할 가능성이 큼을 알 수 있었다. 향후 우리나라의 부품소재산업이 일본과의 격차를 줄이고 대중국 경쟁력을 지속 유지하기 위해서는 지금까지와 는 다른 새로운 접근이 필요하다.
Abstract
Korea’s exports to China that have been growing at a rapid rate after the normalization of relations in 1992., but started to show signs of change in recent years. The growth rate of Korea’s exports to China has slowed down. That is because competitiveness of Korea’s material and component slowed down as compared with China. This paper comparative analyses competitiveness of material and component industries of Korea and China using trade data. Using International Trade by material and component Statistics database based HS-code system. Several methods were used for analysis, trade specialized index, revealed comparative advantage and intra-industry trade index. The results showed that the gap with China was narrowed and that the possibility of competition with China grew very fast. It implied that R&D investment was essential to catch Japan and run away from China and that sub industry specialized policy was necessary.
