성인이 진로전환 과정에서 경험하는 관계의 형태와 영향에 대한 질적메타분석

초록

본 연구는 성인이 진로전환 과정에서 경험하는 관계들이 진로전환 과정에 미치는 영향을 확인했다. 이를 위해 진로전환 관련 질적 연구물을 질적메타분석을 활용하여 종합적으로 이해하고 진로전환 과정에서 관계 경험의 보완을 위한 상담이나 독서치료 프로그램의 필요성을 모색하고자 했다. 이를 위해 Noblit & Hare(1988)가 제시한 7단계 질적메타분석 방법을 활용하여 선정 절차에 따라 분석 대상 연구물 7편을 선정하여 질적메타분석을 실시했다. 본 연구의 결과에서 진로전환 과정에 있는 참여자들이 관계를 맺는 대상은 가족, 동료, 지인, 미상의 4가지로 분류되었다. 여기서 가족은 참여자가 전직을 결정하는 단계부터 진로전환 활동을 지속하는 과정까지 영향을 미쳤다. 동료는 진로전환 이전 직업을 그만두는 과정에 영향을 주었다. 그리고 동료는 진로전환 과정에서 소속감, 지지 기반, 대인관계 확장, 정보 획득, 진로 방향성 구체화 등의 긍정적 영향을 주었지만, 열등감, 위축감, 진로전환 결정 재고 등의 부정적인 영향도 주었다. 지인으로부터 참여자들이 받는 영향의 형태는 정보 획득, 동기 강화, 진로전환 기회 획득 등의 형태로 나타났다. 미상으로 분류된 불특정 타인과의 관계 속에서 참여자들은 진로전환 결정을 하고 이들을 돕는 과정에서 자존감 향상을 이룬 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 진로전환 과정에서 관계가 진로적응력에 미치는 영향과 진로전환에 대한 상담이나 독서치료 프로그램의 개발 필요성에 대해 논하였고 연구의 한계점을 제시했다.

Abstract

The study identified how the relationships adults experience during their career transitions affect their career transition process. This study aimed to comprehensively elucidate the qualitative research on career transitions using qualitative meta-analysis and explore the need for counseling or bibliotherapy programs to complement relationship experiences in the career transition process. To achieve this, a qualitative meta- analysis was conducted by selecting seven studies to be analyzed according to the selection procedure using the seven-step qualitative meta-analysis method proposed by Noblit and Hare(1988). The results of this study showed that the participants’ relationships during the career transition process were categorized into four types: family, colleagues, acquaintances, and unknown. Family members influenced participants from when they decided to make career transitions to when they continued their career transition activities. Colleagues were influential in the process of leaving their previous jobs. They had a positive impact on participants’ sense of belonging, support, expanding interpersonal relationships, gaining information, and refining their career direction; however, they also had a negative impact on participants’ sense of inferiority and embarrassment and on reconsideration of their career choice. The types of influence participants experienced from acquaintances included obtaining information, strengthening motivation, and obtaining opportunities for career transitions. In their relationships with unspecified strangers, categorized as unknown, the participants’ self-esteem was enhanced during the process of making a career change decision and supporting them. Based on these findings, the impact of relationships on career adaptability during the career transition process and the need to develop various psychological programs such as counseling or bibliotherapy for career transition are discussed, and limitations of the study are presented.
