설화 <새끼 서 발> 다시쓰기 양상에 나타난 아동의 심리적 특성: 초등학교 5학년 아동을 대상으로

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the narrative characteristics of 178 rewrites of <Saekki Soe Bal> by fifth-grade elementary school students and to explore the psychological meanings of these characteristics to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the children involved. To achieve this, the same program was repeatedly executed in seven classes at A Elementary School in Y City and B Elementary School in U City, Gyeonggi Province, to collect rewrites of <Saekki Soe Bal> and analyze them as a qualitative case study. The rewrites were classified into four patterns according to the differences in the methods of exchange and ending, and the corresponding psychological meanings were identified. The role of the protagonist changes depending on the value assigned to Saekki Soe Bal. As the value of Saekki Soe Bal decreases, the role of the protagonist diminishes, and the proportion of exchanges also decreases. The main psychological characteristics revealed in this regard were internal self-representation related to “self-trust” and the way they understood and responded to the world. The more negative one’s view of oneself and one’s abilities, the more difficult it is to go out into the world and claim what one wants, and the stronger the child’s belief is that no matter how hard they try, they will not obtain results. Although limited, it was found that these psychological characteristics were closely related to the individual’s attitude toward accepting developmental tasks and the parenting environment that was subjectively experienced. If research is conducted on participants in different environments or life stages, it may be possible to identify narrative patterns that were not shown here. Therefore, it is necessary to expand related research to various topics and participants.
