문】본 논문의 목적은 헤겔의 스피노자 독해가 갖는 그 이론적 함의와 정당성을 살펴보는 것이다. 헤겔은 스피노자의 철학을 세 가지 관점에서 비판한다. 첫째로 기하학적 방법의 문제, 둘째, 실체의 부동성에 관한 문제, 셋째, 속성의 위상 문제가 그것이다. 헤겔은 스피노자의 철학이 갖는 이 세 가지 특징이 스피노자 철학을 결함 있는 철학으로 만든다고 보고, 스피노자의 실체를 주체로 고양시킴으로써 이 결함을 지양하고자 한다. 그런데 스피노자 철학에 대한 현대의 연구는 헤겔의 스피노자 독해가 스피노자 철학에 대한 ‘오해’와 ‘왜곡’에 기반하고 있기 때문에 헤겔이 대결하고 있는 스피노자는 ‘진짜 스피노자’가 아닌 ‘상상적 스피노자’에 불과하다고 주장한다. 헤겔이 스피노자의 철학과 유사한 것으로 이해한 유출이론은 스피노자 자신의 사상과는 전적으로 무관한 것이며, 기하학적 방법을 오성적 방법으로 보고, 여기에 그의 철학적 방법을 대립시키고 있는 것 역시 헤겔의 스피노자 독해가 갖는 잘못된 귀결이라는 것이다. 그러나 필자가 생각하기에 중요한 문제는 헤겔의 스피노자 독해에서 ‘상상의 스피노자’와 ‘진짜 스피노자’를 구분하고, 이들을 대결시키는 것이 아니라, 어떤 철학적 역사적 맥락에서 상상의 스피노자와 진짜 스피노자가 만들어질 수 밖에 없었는지를 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해서는 우선 헤겔 텍스트에 대한 정확한 분석을 통하여 헤겔의 스피노자 독해를 그의 철학 체계 내에서 선명하게 이해해 보는 작업이 전제되어야 한다. 이 글은 헤겔의 스피노자 독해에 대한 현대적 비판을 염두에 두고, 헤겔이 스피노자 독해로부터 끌어낸 귀결이 그의 철학이 놓여 있었던 시대적 문제의식에 대한 헤겔적 답변이라는 관점을 취하고 있다. 이를 통하여 본 논문은 헤겔의 스피노자 해석이 헤겔의 철학 체계 내에서 어떤 이론적 함축을 갖는지, 그리고 그 정당성이 어디로부터 마련될 수 있는지를 검토할 것이다.
Abstract
Hegel's understanding of Spinoza(Ⅰ) Hyun Kim The aim of this paper is to examine a theoretical implication and justification of Hegel's reading of Baruch Spinoza. Hegel criticizes his philosophy in three different respects: the problem of the geometrical method, the problem of immobility, and the problem of status of property. Hegel thinks that these three problems make his theory defective and tries to overcome it by enhancing Spinoza's substance into subject. Recent studies on Spinoza's philosophy, however, claim that Hegel's criticism is based on his own 'misunderstanding' and 'distortion' of Spinoza's and arguing against not 'real Spinoza' but his 'imaginative Spinoza'. According to them, emanation theory, which Hegel considers to be similar to Spinoza's theory, is nothing to do with Spinoza's own theory. Furthermore, the fact that Hegel regards the geometrical method as the method of understanding and opposes Spinoza's theory to this results from Hegel's misunderstanding of Spinoza. As I understand it, what matters is not distinguishing between 'imaginative Spinoza' and 'real Spinoza' in Hegel's reading and contrasting them but understanding what sort of philosophical context made 'imaginative Spinoza' and 'real Spinoza' inevitable to be produced. In order to do this, it is necessary to go through Hegel's understanding of Spinoza in his own philosophical system doing a precise analysis of Hegel's texts. Having in view of recent criticism on Hegel's understanding of Spinoza, I hold that his conclusion from his understanding of Spinoza is the answer to his own question about the society coming from his problem consciousness. I also examined what Hegel's understanding of Spinoza implies and what justifies it. 【key Words】 substance, subject, property, mode, geometrical method
