임마뉘엘 칸트와 앙리 베르그손의 종교론 비교－베르그손의 생명이론을 중심으로－

Abstract

The problem of religion is not only the oldest philosophical thesis but also the most persistent experience since the history of mankind. If experience and reason are the fundamental attitudes of human beings to understand the world including religion, we also face the methodical principle of inquiry of experience and reason in the philosophical inquiry of religion. The main purpose of this article is to compare religion theory of Kant and Bergson to explain religion through the principle of experience and reason. Through this, we can see what their religion theory means in our religious experience today. We will first approach Bergson's analysis of life. Understanding of life is a starting point for the understanding of religion and corresponds to conceptual preparation. This is because the characteristics of human existence must be clarified on the macroscopic level of life in order to properly explain the cognitive function of human existence called experience and reason. Based on this, we intend to show how understanding of life is connected with moral concept as an inevitable gateway to understanding religion. As a result, it can be seen that although there is a gap between Kant and Bergson's understanding of different moral theories, in particular the origins of religion, their religion theory converges to today's call for reflection and determination on religiosity.
