Abstract
Curriculum objectives shows the identity of curriculum and the humanity to which the curriculum intends. However, the curriculum objectives of geography in Korea substantially have not performed its essential duty at schools since they are so general, ideal and abstract.By means of questionnaire and interview, this study analyzes teachers’ perceived curriculum objectives of geography as well as image of the subject that geography teachers have. The result of the analysis of each grade shows that teachers have the concepts of ‘maps’ and ‘travels’ in common. However, the higher grade teachers are committed to, the more abstract concept of the subject they have in mind.Besides, the degree of the difference among the perception of the goals of geography depends on the grades in schools and majors. These results are believed to be one of the counter-examples that say the necessity of more study of the education objectives, which have been taken for granted, which is the start line.
