Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of children’s everyday journey in geography education which is children’s life and context of personal geography creation. Children build geography of lifeworld and practice geography in their lives through everyday journey. What is geographical in children’s everyday lives is that they head for somewhere and face the world while they move. It is necessary to understand children’s geographical life through dynamics of movement and spacial practice. In recently years, social science has shown an increase in an interest in new mobilities paradigm. In the field of geography, research on geographies of mobilities has continued. This study revealed everyday life and journey of sixth graders of elementary school through movement by using methods of go-along such as walk-along and ride-along. Revealing the meaning of children’s everyday journey in geography education is significant in that it places foundation of elementary geography education on children’s life not subject or science.
