본 연구는 일본 고등학교 지리역사과 지리B 과목을 대상으로 하여 내용 구성 방법의 변화와 특징을 고찰한 것이다. 1989년 학습지도요령(교육과정 개정)에서 지리역사과가 설치되고 지리B 과목이 등장한 이래, 1999년과 2009년의 2차례 교육과정 개정을 통해 지리B 과목의 내용 구성 방식은 계속 변화하였다. 이 과정에서 나타난 경향과 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지리B의 내용 구성 방법은 사례주의에서 내용주의로 전환하고 있다. 둘째, 지리B의 내용조직 방법은 각 시기별 학습지도요령의 개정 방향과 과목의 목표 등을 반영해 4가지 유형의 교육내용(계통지리적 내용, 지역지리적 내용, 학습주제에 기초한 내용, 지리학습방법에 관한 내용)을 유기적으로 관련지어 배치하는 형태로 이루어지고 있다. 셋째, 계통지리적 내용과 지역지리적 내용의 구분이 명확해지고 세계지리의 내용이 증가하는 경향을 보이고 있다.
Abstract
This paper aims to examine the characteristics of the changes and methods in content’s composition of Geography B textbook which is used for senior high schools of Japan. Ever since the 1989 curriculum introduced for the first time the Geography-History subject and subsequently a new subject called Geography B, there have been two series of revisions in the 1999 curriculum and the 2009 curriculum. They then went through multiple revisions in terms of textbook’s content’s composition. Characteristics and tendency featured throughout such changes are as follows. Firstly, composition method of Geography B curriculum is changing from empirical and methodological composition to content-focused and methodological composition. Secondly, organizational methods of contents in Geography B now reflects on the revision direction of each period’s curriculum and organically arranges four types of educational contents (systematic geography, regional geography, topic-based learning, and methods of geography learning) in relation to each other. Lastly, there is clearer demarcation of contents between Systematic Geography and Regional Geography and there is higher coverage of World Regional Geography.
