Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the learning effects of dialogue e-Learning contents that comprehensively applied vicarious interaction instructional design strategies in an e-Learning environments. To this end, dialogue e-learning contents based on vicarious interaction instructional design strategies were extracted from previous studies and monologue e-Leaning contents that instructor conducts lectures alone were produced, which were then delivered to two experimental groups(30 undergraduate and graduate students per group, total 60 students) to determine the learning effect differences, for which recall and transfer tests were conducted. The follow-up interviews identified emotional experiences of learning dialogue e-Learning contents. It was found that the dialogue e-Learning contents learning group had significantly higher recall and transfer than the monologue e-Learning contents learning group, experienced emotional comfort and empathy with learners in the contents, and experienced natural and focused learning participation. Based on the research results, instructional design implications for the support of vicarious interaction experiences in an e-learning environments are discussed.
