한국의 환경교육 연구ㆍ실천 경향의 분석: 변천모형 및 유형의 적용

1980년대 이후 한국의 환경교육에 대한 연구·실천에 관한 연구물들은 방대한 규모로 축적되어 오고 있다. 그러나, 몇 편의 양적 분석을 제외한다면, 한국의 환경교육 관련 연구물들이 어떠한 경향성을 지니고 있는지에 대해서는 충분한 분석은 이루어지지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 변천모형 및 유형을 적용하여 한국의 환경교육 연구의 경향을 분석하였다. 그 결과 한국의 환경교육 연구가 대체로 Layton의 변천모형 중 ‘중간단계’ 이후의 교과들이 흔히 취하는 Goodson의 ‘학문적 전통’에 가까운 연구유형을 나타내고 있어서, 학습자를 중시하고 교육적 가치를 존중하는 초기의 교과모형으로 돌아가기 위한 노력이 요청된다고 할 수 있다. 이와 관련하여 기초연구와 적용연구에 집중된 연구에서 벗어나, 기존의 연구와 실천들에 대한 평가연구와 그 결과를 환경교육을 내실화하기 위한 정책연구에 반영하는 체계적인 과정이 뒤따라야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Researches and practices have produced extensive articles in Environmental Education in Korea from 1980s. However, excepting some quantitative analysis, the trends and periodical characteristics of researches and practices in Environmental Education in Korea have not been analysed and evaluated. This study focused on the application of transition model and typology. This application points that researches and practices in Environmental Education in Korea could be placed at the 2nd stage of transition model suggested by D. Layton, and the leaner-centered and pedagogic tradition should be valued more in researches and practices in Environmental Education. In relation to this analysis, more efforts in evaluation research on the existing achievements and policy research to substantiate the Environmental Education systematically should be concentrated.
