본 연구에서는 지리교육에서 공간지능 활용의 의미를 공간지능의 시각화 관점과 3단계 구조를 중심으로 살펴봤다. 기존의 지리교육은 시각화 측면에서 다른 과목에 비해서 앞서 있지만, 개념과 자료의 이해를 위한 보조적 수단으로써 시각화가 강조되었다. 그러나 공간지능에 대한 인식을 바탕으로 정보의 시각화뿐 아니라 시각적 사고과정 그리고 시각적 활동과 표현까지를 포함할 때 진정한 공간지능 발현 과목으로서 역할을 하게 될 것이다. 공간지능을 활용한 교수-학습을 위해서 가장 중요하게 고려해야 할 것은 시각화 관점이며, 언어 중심 수업의 보조적인 역할을 하는 수준이 아니라, 공간지능의 표현 형태인 시각적 형태로 정보를 입력하고, 사고하고, 표현할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 우리나라의 사회과 교육과정과 미국의 국가지리표준에서 공간지능 관련 내용이 주요 교육내용으로 설정되지 못하고 지리적 기능 영역으로 별도로 설정되어 있는데, 이러한 기능 영역을 교육내용과 통합하여 제시할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
This study is look into 3 step structure and visualization perspective of spatial intelligence for the apply to geography education. Geography education goes in advanced of visualization in knowledge and data than any other subject but only focus on assistance means for the understanding of educational contents. But if they recognize the spatial intelligence, it will more important subject for revelation spatial intelligence as a input visualization information, visual thinking process, visual activity and presentation. For the apply spatial intelligence in geography education, it is depend on visualization perspective not language intelligence in the first place. But only used to assistance means for understanding in geography education before. The spatial intelligence has 3 step structure in input of visual style information, visual thinking process, visual activity and presentation style. geography education has to use this 3 step as a whole not partly for the give to revelation opportunity of spatial intelligence. The geography curriculum of Korea and America is setting up of visualization skill as a function for assistance means of the contents. But it is need to integrate with contents and function.
