장소감 측정도구의 개발과 적용: 초등학생의 성별 차이를 사례로

이 연구의 목적은 초등학생을 대상으로 장소감을 측정할 수 있는 측정도구를 개발하고 그것을 적용하는 예시를 보여 주는 것이다. 장소감 측정도구 개발을 위해 장소감의 하위영역을 장소에 대한 지식(인지적 영역), 장소를 향한 애착(정의적 영역), 장소를 위한 실천(행동적 영역)으로 정의하였다. 이러한 정의를 바탕으로 각 영역을 측정할 수 있는 문항을 개발하고 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하였다. 개발된 측정도구를 장소감의 성별 차이 조사에 적용해 본 결과, 정의적 영역에서 남학생의 점수가 여학생 점수보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높았다. 이 연구는 우리나라 지리교육에서 거의 이루어지지 않았던 장소감을 측정할 수 있는 검사도구를 개발했다는 데에서 그 함의를 찾을 수 있다. 그러나 추후 연구를 통해 이 논문에서 개발된 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도를 더욱 확고히 하고 장소감과 관련된 다양한 변수의 영향 관계를 고찰할 필요가 있다.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a sense of place test instrument, and furthermore shows an example of its application. To this end, this research defined sub-dimensions of sense of place as 1) knowledge about place(cognitive domain), 2) affection towards place(affective domain), and 3) action for place(behavioral domain). Based on this definition, a test instrument was created, and the reliability and the validity of the test were examined. When the developed instrument was applied to investigate the extent of difference of sense of place between genders, males scored higher than females in the affective domain. This study provides a useful addition to the literature because it developed a test instrument to measure sense of place; virtually no prior geography education research has attempted the development of this type of test instrument in Korea. Future research, however, needs to strengthen the reliability and the validity of the test instrument developed in this study and to explore the relationships among diverse variables relevant to sense of place.
