Abstract

My Themes in this article are two-fold. First, This article will reveal that a metatheoretical review of Confucian democracy is very necessary and important. The discourse of existing Confucian democracy implies valuable assets. They are ‘essence of politics’ and ‘the metatheory’ that supports the essence of politics. Still, the discourse of Confucian democracy, which is based on ‘the Substance-Motion Metatheory’ and ‘Human Self referential Metatheory’ of modern and contemporary Western Europe, fails to properly restore ‘propping politics’ to today’s democratic methods of politics. That’s because the unique metatheory of modern and contemporary Western Europe can only show ‘dominating method’ and not ‘propping method’ at all. Thus, without restoring Confucianism's ‘Flux-Change Metatheory’ and ‘Work Itself referential Metatheory’ that shows ‘propping politics’ and ‘dominating politics’ at the same time, the ‘political methods of propping’ and ‘methods of propping’ that Confucianism emphasizes cannot be restored as well. Second, This article will also reveal that metatheoretical review is very important in search of an alternative democracy. The key source of these main Issues in this age, ‘Work-Unemployment Issue’, ‘Ecosystem-Disaster Issue’, ‘Monetary-Finance Issue’, ‘Knowledge-Technology Issue’, etc. is ‘methods of dominating’ which is deeply ingrained in politics and daily cultures and lifes. Then, with the task of properly explaining the actuality of the 21st century, which is beset by these main Issues, alternative democracy must review deeply the metatheory. It shows an organic theoretical linkage between ‘political methods of propping’ and ‘political methods of dominating’, and Confucianism’s ‘Flux-Change Metatheory’ could provide several clues to search of an alternative democracy.
