Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the operational status of leading schools that provide preliminary gifted education. This path can help students explore their talents before entering gifted and talented education, as well as seek successful implementation plans. We monitored the operational status of leading schools and conducted a survey which included the perception and satisfaction of preliminary gifted education for students, parents, and teachers.. The survey findings showed that providing opportunities for preliminary gifted education to each student resulted in an increased interest in academic curriculum, and further exploration of their talents. Potential students were consistently connected with teachers' observations and nomination systems in order to continually receive gifted education. In addition, we discussed various ways to activate preliminary gifted education. First, various types of gifted and talented education should be implemented during the regular and non-regular hours. Second, various preliminary gifted and talented education for each student talent should be provided. Third, efforts to support and discover students with talent are required. Fourth, for the connected program implementation in gifted and talented education, operational systems should be established between each school and gifted educational institution. As a result of the study, preliminary gifted education will be the basis for the selection system to discover potential gifted students.
