Abstract
As generative AI technologies expand in education, their application in early childhood and elementary settings is drawing growing attention. This study explores the impact of AI-based instructional strategies using visual materials on the creativity of children in early childhood and elementary education by analyzing six domestic case studies. Visual materials were defined as AI-generated images, digital drawings, and editing activities using tools such as Midjourney and DALL·E 3. The analysis focused on AI integration methods, instructional strategies, and aspects of creativity—specifically fluency, flexibility, and originality. Early childhood education cases featured open-ended questioning and exploratory play, but lacked systematic AI use and assessment frameworks. In contrast, elementary education cases demonstrated more structured integration of AI and consistent use of quantitative evaluation tools. The integrated approach of creation, appreciation, and critique in elementary education suggests applicability to early childhood settings. This study highlights the need for age-appropriate creativity assessment tools and enhanced teacher training for effective implementation, offering foundational direction for integrating AI into arts-based instruction.
