최근 생명의료윤리학에서는 행위 규범의 정당화에 대한 방법론 논쟁이 활발하다. 이 논쟁은 도덕적 행위 및 그 행위의 정당화 문제를 다룬다. 반면에 행위를 수행하는 도덕 행위자를 강조하는 덕 윤리(virtue ethics)는 생명의료윤리학 영역에서 거의 다루어지지 않고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 비첨과 췰드리스는 행위자와 관련된 도덕적 덕을 생명의료윤리학이 발생하는 초기부터 지속적으로 검토하고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 임상 현장에서 의료 전문인이 어떻게 행위 해야 하는지에 대해 의료전문직이 갖추어야 할 도덕적 덕을 중심으로 재구성하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 ⌜생명의료윤리학의 원칙들⌟에서 제시된 의료 전문직 윤리가 무엇인지를 분석하고 이를 통해 의료 전문직 윤리에서 도덕적 원칙과 도덕적 덕의 상보적인 관계를 체계적으로 제안한다.
Abstract
In recent years, there has been a methodological debate on the justification of behavioral norms in the field of biomedical ethics, which primarily examines the issues of moral behavior and justification of the same. In contrast, this field of study has rarely dealt with virtue ethics, which emphasizes the moral agents who conduct their behavior. In this context, this study focuses on the fact that Beauchamp and Childress have continuously discussed moral virtues of the agent since the beginning of biomedical ethics. With regard to this, this study attempts to analyze how medical professionals should behave in the clinical sites, focusing on moral virtues that they should possess. For this purpose, it analyzes medical professional ethics described in Principles of Biomedical Ethics and then elucidates the complementary relationship between moral principles and moral virtues in medical professional ethics.
