초록

This study intends to empirically examine the financial management of local governments since local autonomy was put into implementation. In particular, it is the main focus of the analysis to see if any changes might happen in the volume of welfare expenditures. Findings of the analysis indicate that the volume of welfare expenditure of local governments tends to continuously increase since the begining of local autonomy. On the contrary, that of regional development expenditure, an representative indicator for economic development, is not statistically significant.

Abstract

This study intends to empirically examine the financial management of local governments since local autonomy was put into implementation. In particular, it is the main focus of the analysis to see if any changes might happen in the volume of welfare expenditures. Findings of the analysis indicate that the volume of welfare expenditure of local governments tends to continuously increase since the begining of local autonomy. On the contrary, that of regional development expenditure, an representative indicator for economic development, is not statistically significant.
