An Analysis on Educational Contents Related to the Career Presented in the Middle School Science Textbooks based on the 7th National Science Curriculum

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine educational contents related to the career presented in the middle school science textbooks based on the 7th National Science Curriculum. Nine textbooks deveoloed for middle school science students were analyzed by goals of career education related to science, which were suggested by the Korean Educational Development Institute(KEDI). Few textbooks have educational contents related to careers. Even though various science topics related to everyday life and society were presented in the middle school science textbooks, they weren't connected to the career education. If the career education can be performed with educational contents related to STS, students with positive thinking and attitudes toward science may increase in future. It is necessary to develop career educational materials and programs with suitable and various information related to careers.
