연구 목적: 본 연구는 국내 반려동물의 수가 증가함에 따라, 반려견 양육이 다양한 집단 내 의사소통과 정서적 경험에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데 있다. 연구 방법: 마이크로데이터 통합서비스(MDIS)의 2018년 대전광역시 사회지표보고서 중 반려견을 양육한 사람과 양육하지 않은 사람을 대상으로 빈도분석, t검증을 실시하였다. 연구 내용: 이번 연구의 결과는 첫째, 반려견의 양육을 통해 직장 구성원, 이웃 간의 의사소통이 더 많이 이루어졌으나 반려견 양육 수에 따른 집단 내 의사소통에는 유의한 차이는 없었다. 둘째, 반려견의 양육을 통해 행복과 일이 가치 있다는 경험과 삶에 대한 만족 경험이 더 많은 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 반려견의 양육을 통해 근심, 걱정에 대한 경험과 우울에 대한 경험이 더 적은 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 반려견의 양육이 직장 구성원, 이웃 간의 사회적인 의사소통에 도움을 주고, 긍정적 정서 경험은 증가시키고 부정적 정서 경험은 감소시키는 데 도움을 주는 것으로 확인하였다. 결론 및 제언: 궁극적으로 반려견의 양육이 인간의 삶의 질을 높이는 데 활용될 수 있음을 시사하고, 앞으로도 반려동물이 인간에게 주는 영향에 대한 지속적인 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the effects of rearing companion dogs on emotional experience and communication within various groups according to the increased number of companion animals in Korea. In the social index report on Daejeon Metropolitan City of 2018 in MicroData Integrated Service (MDIS), the frequency analysis and t-test were conducted targeting the people who were rearing companion dogs and people who were not. The results of this study are as follows. First, through the rearing of companion dogs, there were more communication between colleagues and neighbors while there were no significant differences of communication within groups according to the number of companion dogs. Second, through the rearing of companion dogs, there were more experiences in valuable work and happiness and satisfaction with life. Third, through the rearing of companion dogs, there were less experiences in anxiety, worry, and depression. This study verified that the rearing of companion dogs was helpful for social communication between colleagues and neighbors, increase of positive emotional experiences, and decrease of negative emotional experiences. This study implies that the rearing of companion dogs could be ultimately utilized for increasing the life quality of human, and there should be continuous researches on the effects of companion animals on human in the future.
