연구 목적: 오페라와 뮤지컬의 공통점은 종합예술과 음악이란 점이다. 두 작품의 공통점과 차이점을 무대 음악을 중심으로 비교 분석하여 새로운 콘텐츠를 재창조하는 하나의 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 연구 방법: 이 논문의 연구방법은 푸치니와 조나단 라슨의 생애와 오페라 「라 보엠」과 뮤지컬 「렌트」 줄거리를 알아보는 문헌 분석 방법이다. 또한 두 작품의 무대 음악 비교 연구를 하고자 한다. 연구 내용: 주요 연구 내용은 오페라 「라 보엠」과 뮤지컬 「렌트」의 작곡자, 장소, 막 구성, 시대적 배경, 대본, 등장인물 비교, 주요 아리아, 극 전개 방법, 음악 구성, 갈등의 요소, 공통 요소 등 구성요소를 비교 연구한다. 두 작품의 무대 음악은 라이트 모티프, 서곡과 오프닝 코러스, 독창과 이중창의 아리아, 사건의 시작, 쇼 스토퍼, 클라이맥스 등으로 구분하여 비교 분석한다. 결론 및 제언: 푸치니의 「라 보엠」과 라슨의 「렌트」의 무대음악을 비교 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 두 작품은 시대와 배경이 다르지만 그 시대의 사회적 문제를 청년들의 삶을 통해 보여주고 있었다. 또한 오페라가 록 뮤지컬로 전환되면서 나타나는 공통점과 차이점을 확인할 수 있었다. 새로운 콘텐츠를 재창조하는 현대 공연문화에 도움이 되었으면 한다.
Abstract
What opera and musical have in common is that they are comprehensive arts and music. By comparing and analyzing the similarities and differences of the two works, focusing on stage music, a method of recreating new contents is presented. As a literature reivew, the life of Puccini and Larson, the synopsis of the opera La Bohème and the musical Rent, and a comparative study of the stage music of the two works will be studied. Comparative study of components such as composer, location, act composition, historical background, script, character comparison, main aria, play development method, musical composition, conflict elements, and common elements of the opera La Bohème and the musical Rent. The stage music of the two works is compared and analyzed by dividing them into leitmotifs, overtures and opening choruses, solo and duet arias, beginnings of events, show stoppers, and climaxes. As a result of comparative analysis of the stage music of Puccini's La Bohème and Larson's Rent, the times and backgrounds are different, and the social problems of the times are shown through the lives of young people. While recreating an opera into a rock musical, there were similarities and differences. It is hoped that it will help modern performance culture to recreate new contents.
