연구 목적: 본 연구는 말러의 「뤼케르트 시에 의한 5개 가곡」 중 제1곡 ‘나는 보리수 향기를 맡았네’가 같은 작품임에도 반주 악기에 따라 달라지는 작품의 분위기를 논의하는데 목적을 둔다. 연구 방법: 시의 내용을 파악하고 피아노 반주의 악곡 분석을 바탕으로 피아노 반주와 오케스트라 반주를 비교한다. 연구 내용: 먼저 피아노 반주에서 악곡의 선율·리듬·화성을 분석하였다. 피아노 반주의 울림, 음색과 오케스트라 반주의 두터운 색채감, 목관악기 호흡에 따른 프레이즈 표현, 악기군에 의한 느낌 변화, 오케스트라 악기 주법과 비교하였다. 결론 및 제언: 피아노 반주에서는 악기가 지닌 음색적 한계로 표현에 제약이 있었지만, 오케스트라 반주에서는 중음역 사용, 최소한의 악기 출현, 관현악적 색채의 변화, 성악과 음색 블렌딩 등의 관현악 기법을 구사하여 그 한계점을 뛰어넘었다. 최소한의 악기로 구성된 오케스트라로 최대의 관현악 색채 효과를 만들어 낸 악곡이라 할 수 있었다. 향후 나머지 4곡에 관한 연구를 진행하여 「뤼케르트 시에 의한 5개 가곡」의 종합적인 결론 도출이 과제로 남아있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to discuss the mood of the work depending on the accompaniment instrument in the first song, ‘Ich atmet' einen linden Duft’ of Mahler's Rückert-Lieder. Understand the content of the poem, and then, based on the music analysis of the piano piece, the piano and the orchestra version are compared. In the piano, the melody, rhythm, and harmony of the piece were analyzed. The sound and tone of the piano were compared with the orchestra that includes the thickness of color, the expression of phrases according to the breathing of woodwind, the change of feeling by musical instrument groups, and the playing technique of orchestra. In the piano, there were restrictions on expression due to the timbre limitations of the instrument. But in the orchestral, the limits were overcome by using such as the use of the middle range, the appearance of minimal instruments, the change of timbre, and the blending of voice and timbre. In other words, the piece created the max. timbral effect through the orchestra composed of the min. number of instruments. In the future, it is a task to research the remaining four-piece and to draw a comprehensive conclusion on Rückert-Lieder.
